Another 100 jobs can be added to the list of recent major economic announcements that have occurred this year, as another new employer chooses to locate in White County.

Residents who live in the northern portion of White County near the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport can attest to the economical developments because of the number of large commercial buildings that have been under construction. Several major projects have already been announced in 2017, but the year of positive growth isn’t over yet.

The most recent economic development announcement for White County comes as LanMills Company announced that it would become the new tenant of the recently completed quick-turn spec building at the Fitzgerald Industrial Park, with initial plans for 100 jobs.

LanMills is a family owned and operated company, with more than 25 years of experience in the packaging industry. Services and products that are provided by LanMills include crates, pallets, packaging products, warehousing services, and contracted packaging services.

It is expected that LanMills will begin operations at the quick-turn building in January 2018.

This year, White County has landed numerous economic development projects, which have generated a healthy number of jobs. Ultimately, these announcements started once the Fitzgerald Industrial Park, formerly known as the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Industrial Park, was sold in the summer of 2016.

Toward the end of June 2017, after months of site prep work and construction, elected officials and Fitzgerald officials announced that the now-known Fitzgerald Industrial Park would become the home of Fitzgerald Collision and Repair. Additionally, Fitzgerald Truck Parts and Sales has located its operation within the Fitzgerald Industrial Park this year.

On Oct. 5, 2017, a press conference with local and state officials, including Gov. Bill Haslam, was held to announce that Hörmann LCC would be opening a new manufacturing facility, in Sparta, that would create approximately 200 jobs once operational, with the potential for expansions. Hörmann LLC has purchased property on Airport Road, across the road from the Fitzgerald Industrial Park, and will be constructing a 350,000-square-foot facility.

Additional details about the LanMills economic development announcement will be published as soon as they are made available.
