19-year-old White County woman killed in Van Buren County crash

A 19-year-old White County woman died March 1 in a single-vehicle collision that occurred in Van Buren County.

At approximately 12:28 a.m., dispatchers with the Van Buren County 911 Communications Center received notification of a single-vehicle incident with possible injuries. The initial report received by dispatchers stated that the incident occurred on Turkey Scratch Road and involved a pick-up truck.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was dispatched to conduct the investigation at the scene. According to the THP incident report, which was filed by Trooper Gavin Sullivan, the crash involved a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck and three subjects.

The driver of the truck was listed as 18-year-old James Savage, of Quebeck. Savage was transporting two subjects, who were identified by the incident report as Dustin McCurry, 20, of Quebeck, and 19-year-old Abigail Pack, of Sparta.

According to the report, “Vehicle-One (Chevy) was traveling northbound on Turkey Scratch Road and lost control. Vehicle-One left the right side of the roadway and came back onto the roadway. Vehicle-One then ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.”

The reported stated Pack died from the injuries she suffered in the collision. According to the report, neither Savage nor McCurry were injured in the incident.

Pack was listed as the only person not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
