Dariel Wayne Humphrey, 65, of Walling, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital.
Humphrey was born November 13, 1935, in Tennessee, to Elbert and Ruth Felton Humphrey.
Humphrey was a member of Springhill The Baptist Church of Christ and was retired from Transportation Industries. He had been a farmer and cattleman prior to his death.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Neil Felton Humphrey.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Roberts Humphrey of Walling; one son, Kevin Humphrey of Walling; and parents, Elbert and Ruth Felton Humphrey of Walling.

J. C. Linder, 71, of Smithville, passed away Friday, October 26, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital.
Linder attended House of Prayer and had been a Chevron employee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Classie and Flossie Bain Linder.

Lula Ethel Robinson, 90, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at Generations of Spencer.
Robinson was born May 12, 1911, in Cumberland County, to Jonce Reeves and Becky Ella Ford Reeves.
She had been employed at the Shirt Factory.
Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis Robinson and one son, Freddie Talmage Robinson.
Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Elrod of Sparta; two sons, Edward Lewis Robinson and James Kenneth Robinson both of Sparta; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Judith M. Baker, 55, passed away October 24, 2001.
Baker was born August 12, 1946.
She was Executive Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Survivors include her husband, William (Bill) H. Baker; father, Elmer Scott Minnix; sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Jane Parker; and niece and nephew, Bill and Jane Parker.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, October 27, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. J.V. Lowery and Bobby Colvert officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Judith A. Williams, 45, of Sparta, passed away Friday, October 26, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Williams was born November 19, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia, to Paul Harold McCoy and Sarah Louise Dailey.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Angie Williams and Brandy Williams both of Sparta; one son, Tommy Williams of Sparta; parents, Paul and Sarah McCoy of Athens, Ohio; two brothers, Roger Mitchell of Cutler, Ohio and David McCoy of Athens, Ohio; and one grandson, Will Kirkpatrick of Sparta.
No services were planned.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Stan and Marie Jordan have moved their business, Stan’s Trailer Sales to a new location, and the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce conducted a Red Carpet ceremony October 17 to celebrate. The business has been operating since October 1 of last year, and has now moved to 1011 Smithville Highway. Stan explained he is now sharing the sales lot with Gus Parrish. “We appreciate Gus inviting us to share his space,” Stan said. Col. Haynie Sherwood Bastian, 84, a native of Tennessee and long time resident of Sumner County, passed away October 20, 2001.
Col. Bastian died at Baptist Hospital in Nashville following injuries received at his farm in the Shackle Island community of Sumner County.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Bastian was a retired United States Air Force officer and a combat fighter pilot with 44 combat missions in World War II.

Matilda Walker, 104, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001.
Walker was the last of 13 children of Charlie and Cynthia Bowman Walker of Overton County.
She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School Class. Walker was a resident of Chattanooga for 78 years and was retired from Miller Bro. company as a fur restylist and continued her work at home past her 100th birthday.
Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Bertis Leo Mills, Sr. and two sons, Cecil Ray Mills and Charles Douglas Mills.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2001, at 12 noon at Highland Cemetery.… Read More

Erbie Earl Brown, 84, of Oregon, formerly of White County, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2001.
Survivors include four sisters, Ruby Brown, Lucille Henry, Willene Brown, and Dorothy Brown all of Sparta and three brothers, Ernest “Runt” Brown and J.B. Brown, both of Sparta, and Charles Brown of Michigan.

William C. England, 64, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lebanon.
England was born December 12, 1936, in White County, to Carl Andrew England and Aretta Gertrude Stamps England.
He attended the Church of Christ. England served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was in construction. He was also a member of The American Legion.
