Opening Christmas presents can be a big task for a little fellow, but he can always count on Poppa to lend his assistance. Logan Cavanah excitedly opened his first present of the day, as he sat in the lap of his great grandfather, James Cavanah.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

A soldier’s Christmas poem

Posted on December 23, 2002 12:12 am by Sparta Live

A Marine stationed in Okinawa, Japan
‘Twas the night before Christmas,
He lived all alone,
In a one-bedroom house
Made of plaster and stone.

A strange sight I did see,
No tinsel, no presents,
Not even a tree.
No stockings by the mantle,
Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures
Of far distant lands.
With medals and badges,
Awards of all kinds,
A sober thought
Came through my mind.
For this house was different,
It was dark and dreary,
I found … CONTINUED

“I thought the drill went well,” said Jerry Cole, emergency management director, referring to the mock disaster drill held last week. “It’s important everyone works together.”
Cole and representatives from other emergency services departments held a roundtable discussion Wednesday morning to critique the drill, which took place at Life Care Center of Sparta.
According to Cole, Bart Walker, administrator of Life Care, had originally requested assistance with an in-house drill, which is required for specific recertification procedures. Upon talking with personnel who were assisting Walker with the plans, it was decided to incorporate the drill into a mock disaster for all emergency services departments.
