A mission to help children

Debbie Ward and Tonya Scott are on a mission.
Ward, the Team Leader for Foster Care and Scott, the Team Leader for Child Protective Services, both in White County, are working to help children who are removed from their homes because of methamphetamine.
Scott removes children from homes where meth is being manufactured or there has been abuse or neglect. Foster care then picks up the child(ren) and works with the families to place them in a safe haven.

John D. Richardson, 69, of Quebeck, passed away Jan. 28, 2004.
Richardson was born May 20, 1034, in White County, to John Robert Richardson and Lou Brock Richardson.
He had been a lumberman.
Richardson was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Della Mae Richardson.

Thomas Skiba, 62, of Orange City, Fla., passed away Jan. 25, 2004.
Skiba was born May 19, 1941, in Scranton, Pa.
He served in the U. S. Navy and was retired from Sanford Police Department, Sanford, Fla.

R. H. Johnson, 59, of Rock Island, passed away Jan. 28, 2004.
Johnson was born Nov. 1, 1944, to Hugh Johnson and Naomi Grace Bryant Johnson.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Josephine Angel Coleman, 87, of Hendersonville, passed away Jan. 29, 2004.
Coleman was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Sparta, to Fred Angel and Oda France Angel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Coleman; one sister, Reba Angel Stewart; and one nephew, Charles Frederick Gore.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Angel Wessel, of Tullahoma, Lucille Angel Gore, of Sparta; one nephew, Mike Wessel and wife, Monica, of Hendersonville; nieces, Priscilla Gore, of Woodbury, Angeline Stewart Bilbrey and husband, Bill, of Cookeville; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Services were graveside at 1 p.m., Jan. 30, 2004, at Highland Cemetery.

Lela Mae Demps Bumbalough, 90, of Richmond, Ind., formerly of Sparta, passed away Jan. 26, 2004.
Bumbalough was born April 15, 1913, in White County, to D. T. Demps and Millie Ann Whitaker Demps.
She had been in the nursing profession.
Bumbalough was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Herbert Bumbalough; daughter, Tina Mae Bumbalough, great grandson Shane Kolentus; four sisters, Katherine Barr, Bertie Henry, Minnie Robinson, Ruby Flenning; and two brothers, Jesse Demps and Robert L. Demps.
