Ellen Willene Kell, 82, of Warren County, passed away April 9, 2004.
Kell was born July 2, 1921, in Van Buren County, to Arcie Scott and Bette Hennessee Scott.
She had been a homemaker.
Kell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, G.L. Kell Jr.; one sister, Grace Bouldin; and one brother, Bud Scott.

Woods was born April 27, 1965, in Chicago, Ill., to Neil E. Woods and Sherry Young Woods.
He had been a factory worker.

Willie Joe Hall, 69, of Nashville, formerly of White County, passed away April 6, 2004.
Hall was born Nov. 1, 1934, in White County to Joe James Hall and Mattie Simmons Hall.
He had been a sheet metal worker.
Hall was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Flora Ann Lack Hall.

Arnold worked for National Linen Service for 36 1/2 years.

William Harry Camp, 94, of Sparta, passed away March 27, 2004.
Camp was born Oct. 5, 1909, to Harry Camp and Lena Breeding Camp.
He served in World War II, received the Purple Heart and was a member of the VFW. Camp was a retired letter carrier, was a Rotarian of long standing and was active in the Sparta Senior Citizen Center.

William Aurther Troglen, 74, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of White County, passed away April 3, 2004.
Troglen was born Sept. 29, 1929, to James Richard Troglen and LouVadie Davis Troglen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Willie V. Bumbalough, 83, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of White County, passed away April 2, 2004.
Bumbalough was born Dec. 3, 1920, in White County, to Leslie Bumbalough and Maggie Bumabalough.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was retired from Arvin Industries after 44 years of service.

John Art Miner, 95, of Sparta, passed away April 5, 2004.
Miner was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Liberty, Mo., to John Emery Miner and Julie Isabelle Bequett Miner.
He had been a salesman.
Miner was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Eller Key Miner.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Lachman, of Houston, Texas; one stepson, Tillitson Key, of Sparta; sister, Imogena Holtman, of Arizona; brother, Bill Miner, of Florida; brother-in-law, Herman Eller, of Sparta; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Prater, of Sparta, Gladys Greene, of Harriman; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

State director conducts E-911 town hall meeting

In an effort to keep E-911 boards of directors and personnel better informed, Anthony C. Haynes, executive director of the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board, recently conducted a regional town hall meeting in Cookeville.
Several counties were in attendance at the April 2, 2004, meeting, including White County, which was represented by E-911 board members Ben Gardenhire and Tommy Austin; Wallace Austin, chairman of the White County Board of Commissioners; Margaret Pearson, City of Sparta alderwoman; and Harry Cole, White County E-911 director.

Project Care sends love and supplies to soldiers

Woodland Park Elementary School has begun Project Care, a way to make soldiers who are serving in Iraq feel the love and support of the community. Debbie Argo, a teacher at Woodland Park, has a son who is serving his country in Iraq, Sgt. Bryan Bouldin. Argo had been receiving emails from her son, saying that many of the soldiers in his corps of the Marines, the 3rd Batallion, were not receiving any mail or packages from back home.

Cragrock celebrates Easter

The upcoming Easter Celebration at Cragrock Village has a special meaning for the residents as they proudly display the transformation of their “community.”
The neatly mowed lawns and greenery enhances the white trim on the front of the apartments. Many residents are beginning to get “spring fever” and can be seen planting flowers to brighten up the neighborhood. Along with this renewed enthusiasm, an Easter celebration has been planned, which will not only include an egg hunt, but also include the story of Easter.
