Doyle plagued with vandals

At the monthly meeting of the Doyle Board of Mayor and Aldermen, a motion was made and passed to offer a $100 reward for information that leads to the prosecution of vandals who have spray painted homes, streets, the fire hall, and torn up personal property.
Members of the board all agreed that White County Sheriff’s Department Deputies are not coming to Doyle often enough and are not responding when called. A committee from the board will address the White County Commissioners about this problem at the commissioners monthly meeting. Anyone with information about the vandalism is to call Robert Meeks at the Doyle City Hall … CONTINUED

Edna Stella Rice Lynn, 89, of Sparta, passed away April 8, 2004.
Lynn was born July 13, 1914, in White County to Gilbert Washington Rice and Vallie Mae McBride Rice.
She had been a homemaker.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Henry Lynn.
Survivors include three daughters, Lozette Hutchings, of Sparta, Henrietta Farmer and her husband, Hassel, of Goodletsville, Stella Mae Steele and her husband, Kenneth Steele, of Purer; one son Bobby Joe Lynn and wife, Dora Ellen, of Kingston Springs; one sister, Lillian Brock, of Doyle; 14 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren ; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services were graveside at 2 p.m., April


London Darlene Damitz

London Darlene Damitz, infant daughter of Jody and Lori Pharris Damitz, was born and passed away April 7, 2004.
Survivors include, in addition to her parents, grandparents, Ken and Tess Damitz, of Wisconsin, Dale and Glenda Pharris, of Cookeville; great grandparents, Ann Bruski, of Wisconsin, Ressie Pharris, Roena Raper, Rick Pharris, all of Cookeville; uncles, Rick Pharris, of Cookeville, Lee Damitz, of Florida; and special friends of the family, Steve and Linda Stevens, of Cookeville.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., April 10, 2004, at Skurlock Cemetery.
Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ellen Willene Kell, 82, of Warren County, passed away April 9, 2004.
Kell was born July 2, 1921, in Van Buren County, to Arcie Scott and Bette Hennessee Scott.
She had been a homemaker.
Kell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, G.L. Kell Jr.; one sister, Grace Bouldin; and one brother, Bud Scott.

Neil E. Woods Jr., 38, of Spencer, passed away April 9, 2004.
Woods was born April 27, 1965, in Chicago, Ill., to Neil E. Woods and Sherry Young Woods.
He had been a factory worker.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja Woods, of Spencer; three daughters, Brook Woods, Amber Woods, Alisha Woods, all of Sparta; one son, Andrew Trace Woods, of Spencer; mother, Sherry Woods, of Sparta; father, Neil E. James Isom Hale, 71, of Sparta, passed away April 8, 2004.
Hale was born Aug. 6, 1932, in White County, to Isom Hale and Sallie Wilson Hale.
He had been a truck driver.
Hale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Jean Davis Hale.

Hall was born Nov. 1, 1934, in White County to Joe James Hall and Mattie Simmons Hall.
He had been a sheet metal worker.
Hall was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Flora Ann Lack Hall.

Cope was born Feb. 14, 1923, in DeKalb County, to Oscar W. Young and Ollie Mae Adcock Young.
She had been a beautician.

Willie V. Bumbalough

Willie V. Bumbalough, 83, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of White County, passed away April 2, 2004.
Bumbalough was born Dec. 3, 1920, in White County, to Leslie Bumbalough and Maggie Bumabalough.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was retired from Arvin Industries after 44 years of service.
Bumbalough was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Elbert Bumbalough, Charles Bumbalough and Ray Bumbalough.

William Aurther Troglen, 74, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of White County, passed away April 3, 2004.
Troglen was born Sept. 29, 1929, to James Richard Troglen and LouVadie Davis Troglen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Lou Taylor Troglen; one daughter and son-in-law, Belinda Leight Troglen and Toney Lataris; two sons, Tim L. Troglen, David Troglen; two granddaughters, Chaundra Lataris, Chieanne Lataris; and one grandson, Tristan Troglen.
