Brenda Darlene Jenkins Adcock

Mrs. Brenda Darlene Jenkins Adcock, age 59, of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Adcock was born in Sparta on January 21, 1953, the daughter of the late Henry Hollis and Ruby Leron (Oliver) Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 3pm on Thursday, August 2nd, with Steve Moore and Mike Gillock officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1-3pm. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Linda Johnson Lafever

Mrs. Linda Johnson LaFever, age 50, of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. LaFever was born in Sparta, on September 20, 1961
The daughter of the late R.C. “Squirrel” Johnson and Charlene Swafford Johnson, she was the wife of David LaFever and the mother of Sara Halliburton (husband Rorey) and Luke LaFever.
A time of visitation with the family was held on Wednesday, August 1st from 5-9pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hope Lodge, Nashville, TN.

Arthur Mooney

Mr. Arthur James Mooney, age 82, a resident of Sparta, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Mooney was born July 28, 1930 in Georgetown, Massachusetts to the late George and Louise Martineaux Mooney. He was a retired electrician and had many hobbies including being a member of the Cumberland Arts Society where he was known for his water color painting. He served in the U.S. Army 502 Airborne Division and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sparta.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by son Donald Wayne Mooney and daughter Diane Lynn Mooney.

Former TTU player joins Warrior football staff

Offensive line coach. Jeremy McDonald, a four year starter on the line for Tennessee Tech, stepped in and filled an opening that came up on the Warrior football staff during the month of July.

Just before the dead period, first Warrior head coach, Matthan Houser, completed his coaching staff and was ready to hit the ground running with a complete staff after the two weeks off.
During those two weeks, a change occurred that left Houser with a void to fill on his staff.

Fall sports practice officially underway

Awaiting midnight. The Warrior football team stands in the fitness complex waiting for the clock to strike midnight so they can have their first full contact practice of preseason practice. WCHS will host a four-way scrimmage Friday wrapping up the first week of practice.

Let the hitting begin. The Warriors got their first hitting drills of the preseason in just after midnight Monday morning. More than 100 fans turned out to watch the Warriors’ first practice of the season.
