Patricia Ann Wair Moseley, 68, passed away March 4, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Ms Moseley was born March 15, 1945, in Nashville, the daughter of Clyde William Wair Sr. and Fannie Louise Taylor Wair.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clyde William Wair Jr. and Virgil Wair.
Survivors include her brothers, James E. Wair Sr. and wife Darlene, of Lebanon, Wesley Eugene Wair, of Sparta; sisters, Brenda Williams and husband P. B., of Murfreesboro, Linda Goff, of Murfreesboro, Peggy Curtiss and husband Charles, of Sparta; and nieces and nephews.

Ella June Brock, 73, of Oakland, Tenn., passed away March 6, 2014, at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital, in Germantown.
Mrs. Brock was born May 22, 1940, in Spencer, the daughter of Sherful Braddom and Theola Grissom.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., March 9, 2014, at Spencer Funeral Home, with burial in Molloy Cemetery, in Spencer. The family will receive friends 4-9 p.m., March 8, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m., March 9, at the funeral home.
Spencer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Danny Dale Nowling

Danny Dale Nowling, 69, of Walling, passed away March 21, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Nowling was born March 8, 1944, in Brownstown, Ind., and was the son of Nelson Nowling and Irene Gunther Nowling.
No service is announced at this time.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Mike Mayers

Mike Mayers, 83, of Sparta, went to be with the Lord, on March 5, 2014. He passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mayers was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Laredo, Texas, and was the son of Miguel Mayers and Maria Trevino.
He was the husband of Peggy Disney Mayers.
Mr. Mayers served in the U.S. Air Force 1948-1952.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Disney Mayers; three sons; one daughter; and many friends and neighbors.

Sparta’s Kroger store is closing down

Melissa Eads, media relations with Kroger’s Mid-South Division, informed The Expositor this morning that corporate officials were at the store today talking with associates and hoping to work with them to help with transfers to other Kroger locations, if possible. White County authorities find remains believed to be missing woman

On March 5, 2014 the White County Sheriff’s Department and the White County Rescue Squad, Sparta Fire Dept, BonDeCroft Fire Dept. THP and TBI expanded the search for missing person Kelly Reightler.
Remains were located in the wooded area of Doe Creek. The remains are currently in Nashville at the Medical Examiners Office pending results and positive identification.
“First Responders did a tremendous job and White County is fortunate to have them,” said Oddie J. Shoupe, sheriff of White County.

BonDeCroft Utility District wins regional water contest

Employees of BonDeCroft Utility District have official bragging rights after winning an award that had placed the White County water supplier in tough competition against other areas.
Tennessee Association of Utility Districts held the Region Four “Best Tasting Water Contest” at the Cumberland House Community Complex, on Feb. 20, 2014. BonDeCroft Utility District was awarded the Best Tasting Water in Region 4. The drinking water samples were judged on their clarity, bouquet and taste.

The Sparta Drive-In has been a Sparta icon since its grand opening in 1948 when admission was thirty-five cents and families from surrounding towns cruised in to wait for night to fall and the show to begin. Even in 2014, the drive-in serves as a place for families to have a short getaway and leave the worries at home, even if only for a few hours.

Kroger shutting down Sparta store

Customers are still faithful to Kroger, in Sparta, although it was announced on Tuesday that the grocery store would be shutting down within 30 days. Customers may call (866) 221-4141 to voice their complaints.

Sparta and White County residents were hit with what many said felt like “a kick in the stomach” on Tuesday when officials with Kroger Company announced they would be shutting down a grocery store that has been a part of this community for 64 years.

17-year-old dies from crash injuries

A White County teenager has passed away from injuries she suffered in a March 1, 2014, crash on Ravenscroft Road, in Sparta.
According to Trooper Jacob Groce, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tiffany Nicole Johnson, 17, was a passenger in the one-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m., on Saturday. Johnson was transported from the scene and passed away March 2.
According to Trooper Groce, Jessie Jordan, of White County, was the driver of the 2004 Chevy Blazer in which Johnson was a passenger. Todd Cannon, of White County, was also a passenger in the vehicle.

Loretta “Lori” Joyce Cumming Richardson, 46, of Algood, passed away March 3, 2014, at Highlands Medical Center, in Sparta.
Mrs. Richardson was born Feb. 6, 1968 in Lansing, Mich., to John Doan Cumming III and Verlius Joyce Oliver Cumming.
She was an employee of Wal-Mart in Sparta for 28 years and was the Claims Department Manager.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Baby Jackie.

WCHS softball returns 13 players from last season

Seniors ready to guide. The four Warriorette seniors are ready to lead the WCHS softball team this season. Those seniors are (l to r): Amber Hudgens, Kaitlyn Heath, Baylee Bain and Savanna Bolin. The team opens the season at home Monday against Monterey.

When the White County High School softball team hits the field Monday for their season opener, there should be a lot of familiar faces in the line-up.
