Della Elizabeth Lack

Della Elizabeth Lack, 80, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 1, 2014, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta.

Ms. Lack was born Oct. 4,1933, in White County, to Lloyd Lack and Martha Johnson Lack.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Eugene Lack; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Lack, of Sparta, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Sept. 3, 2014, at Highland Cemetery. Robert Roberts will officiate. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 


Gas price update

Average retail gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 0.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.20/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 3,821 gas outlets in Tennessee. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.43/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com. Including the change in gas prices in Tennessee during the past week, prices yesterday were 18.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 6.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. Anti-Drug Coalition to debut at Soups and Sirens

The White County Anti-Drug Coalition will soon have its first public event at the Soup and Sirens Cruise-in Soup and Chili Cook-off Competition, on Oct. 18, 2014.   The even begins at 1 p.m. in the Historic Oldham Theater, on Liberty Square.  At 2 p.m., classic cars will cruise in.  More information can be found in the Sept. 1, 2014, edition of The Expositor.


White County job fair Sept. 15

Ross arrested for alleged possession of drugs and DUI

Package liquor stores on the Nov. 4 ballot

White County voters will decide on an issue that could have a major economic impact on residents at the Nov. 4 election, when the issues of liquor by the drink in the county and retail package stores in the county will appear on the ballots. Billy Ray Buff

Billy “Bill” Ray Buff, father of Felecia Buck, passed away on Aug. 30, 2014, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta.

Born in Marion, North Carolina, on July 9, 1932, he was the son of James Albert Buff and Lena Faye Henline Buff.

Mr. Buff enjoyed being outside, working on cars, traveling, and being with his family. He was retired from Plateau Mental Health Center. Mr. Buff was a member of Central Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Cora B. Stockton Buff; and a brother, Thomas Buff.

He is survived by his daughter, Felecia Rose Buff Buck, of Sparta; two … CONTINUED


Betty Louise O’Dell

Betty Louise O’Dell, 81 of Sparta, passed away on Aug. 30, 2014, at Cookeville Regiona lMedical Center.

Mrs. O’Dell was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Sparta, the daughter of Leslie Eller and Lourena Howell Eller.

She was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ and worked for 52 years in banking.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth O’Dell, of Sparta; a son, Kevin O’Dell and wife Shirley, of Sparta; her grandson, Jessie O’Dell, of Sparta; one brother, Robert Eller and wife Sarah; two nieces, Beth Anderson, Lisa Eller; and many dear friends and neighbors.

Jackie Merriel Fisher

Jackie Merriel Fisher, 72, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 31, 2014, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mr. Fisher was born Feb. 7, 1942.

Funeral arrangements will be complete by 3 p.m., Sept. 1.
