In 1974, the White County High School student council was led by President Gary Sparkman, who today serves as the Chairman of the White County School Board. Sparkman, along with council sponsor Mabel Moore, honored the teachers at White County with a welcome back tea.

Lomas facing warrant for contributing to delinquency of a minor

Enrique A. Lomas, the 21-year-old male who was reportedly believed to be with Olivia Hope Barber, the 17-year-old White County teenager that had been reported missing this morning,  has an active warrant for his arrest for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Sparta Police Chief Jeff Guth. Guth confirmed that Barber has been located in Lebanon, and that law enforcement officials are currently working out arrangements for her to leave Lebanon.

TBI Public Information Officer Josh DeVine has confirmed that missing White County teen Olivia Hope Barber has been located in Lebanon. She is reportedly safe and uninjured.

Woodland Park Fall Festival tonight

Tonight, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Woodland Park Elementary is holding their annual Fall Festival

Silent auction starts at 5:30 p.m. Live auction starts at 7:00 pm

– $10 Armbands or 4 tickets for $1.00 will be sold in front lobby each morning before carnival

– Each child has participated in a classroom art project that will be auctioned during the live auction

– Signed basketballs will be auctioned from the teams at Woodland Park, WCHS, and TTU.

Festival Events:

Bounce houses, games, petting zoo, pony rides, fire truck rides, face painting, train rides, balloon animals, & cake walk

Rescue Squad, fire departments respond to Big Bottom

The Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, along with Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Eastland Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a vehicle stuck and lost in the Big Bottom area at approximately 9 p.m. last night. Black/White Market set for Oct. 4

Fun Friday set for Oct. 3

Turney Financial Group, LLC will be holding Fun Friday on October 3, 2014.  From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., bring old files to the Shred Party at Turney Financial, LLC to be safely shredded and enjoy a free lunch.  That evening at 6:45, head over to the Sparta Drive-In for a classic car cruise-in and showing of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Taste of Home Cooking School gears up for its 14th year in Sparta

The 14th annual Taste of Home Cooking School returns to Sparta with lots of fun and prizes in store. Before the show begins at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, there will be many vendor booths to browse. Michelle “Red” Roberts will once again be hosting the two-hour show and will demonstrate for attendees how to use household products in new and exciting ways.
