Sparta Police and Sparta Firefighters visited First United Methodist Church today to teach the children about fire safety, and staying safe for Halloween.


Heart of the City fundraiser and reveal party set for Nov. 13

At 5 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Cookeville High School, a fundraiser and reveal party will be held for the Cookeville Community Playground, Heart of the City.  This family event will feature carnival games and food.


Trunk or Treat tonight at Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church

Tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church in Cookeville will be holding Trunk or Treat.  If the weather does not allow the event to be outdoors, the event will be moved inside.  This event is free and open to the public.


Fall Fun Tennis Round Robin set for Nov. 9

Holiday Mission Mart this Saturday

The Holiday Mission Mart, a charity fair, will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Cookeville.  The event will offer food, children’s activities, and prizes.  Buying certificates or gift items at The Holiday Mission Mart will support the church’s missions.  There will be a soup and salad lunch for $5.


3rd Annual Mustard Seed Ranch Barn Dance Fundraiser next Saturday

From 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, Mustard Seed Ranch will be holding their 3rd Annual Barn Dance Fundraiser.  Mustard Seed Ranch is a religious organization in Cookeville serving children who have been neglected, abused, or orphaned.  The event will feature old fashioned barn dancing, raffle prizes, dinner, and fireworks.  Tickets are available at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/mustard-seed-ranch-3rd-annual-barn-dance-tickets-13331487839.

Troopers Herren, Groce recognized

Two White County Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers, Jacob Groce and Kyle Herren, have been recognized for their performance in the second and third quarter of this year.

Trp. Herren was recognized for his enforcement in restraint usage. This includes seat belt, child restraint devices, and teenage seat belt usage.  Trp. Herren issued the most citations for  the third quarter in the Cookeville District, which includes 15 counties in the Upper Cumberland.  Trp. Groce was recognized for issuing the most citations for the  second quarter and was runner up in the third quarter.

 


ACT preparation course

Sylvan is offering an ACT preparation course. The first classes begin in November and are available in both Cookeville and Crossville. Any student who has an interest in this course should contact Mrs. Naaktgeboren at White County High School for more information, including specific dates and prices.
