Community Free Will Baptist Church will have a Fall Fun Fest beginning at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at the church, on South Camp Heights Street, in Sparta. There will be food, fun and games for everyone.

Central Standard Time goes into effect 2 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 2. To avoid any problems, be sure to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.


Elizabeth Dodson wins at Southeast Regional Junior Brangus Show

On Sept. 26, 2014, Elizabeth Dodson, White County 4-H livestock member, traveled to Lake City, Florida, to participate in the Southeast Regional Junior Brangus Show. Elizabeth represented White County and Tennessee by winning Grand Champion Bull, Reserve Grand Champion Cow and Calf Pair and Grand Champion Junior Showmanship.


Early voting ends Thursday

Thursday, Oct. 30 is the last day of early voting. Anyone wishing to vote after early voting ends must do so at their local precincts on Nov. 4.


4-H Chick Chain Project

This year’s show and sale was a huge success. There were 22 4-H members who completed their projects and sold 90 chickens raising a total of $1,807. Abby McCulley, a 5th grader at Northfield Elementary School, was the Grand Champion winner in the pen of 6 class, followed by MaKenzie Ryan, a 6th grader White County Middle School, as the Reserve Grand Champion. In the pen of 3 division, Ethan Swoape a 5th grader at Doyle Elementary was the Grand Champion, followed by Seth Speck, a 5th grader at Cassville Elementary, as the Reserve Grand Champion.
