City of Sparta – Notice of Board Work Session

The members of the Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet in a work session at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014. The work session will take place at the Sparta Water Treatment Plant located at West Bronson Street for the purpose of reviewing the scope of proposed improvements to the water treatment plant. The work session is open to the public. For more information, call Sparta city hall at 931-836-3248 during normal working hours.

 


Throckmorton charged with bringing drugs into jail

A suspect who was arrested for a reported violation of probation is now facing further charges, as officers allege that he brought illegal drugs into the White County Jail. Stephen Andrew Throckmorton was arrested on Nov. 12 and is now facing several drug charges. For more details, see today’s edition of The Expositor.


2014 Christmas Carnival set for Dec. 6

From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Dec. 6, local families are invited to tour the Cookeville Depot Museum for the 2014 Christmas Carnival.  There will be games, balloons, magic, live reindeer, prizes, face painting, cookies, caroling, elves, a selfie booth, and Santa Claus himself.  Families are encouraged to bring their children and their cameras for the holiday fun.


Lew Betterton benefit has large turnout

A benefit to help former 20-year Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Lew Betterton was a success, with a large crowd filling the Cherry Creek Fire Hall on Saturday night for an auction and dinner.


Candy Cane Lane Art Show coming up

The community is invited to attend Cassville Elementary School’s 2nd Annual Candy Cane Lane Art Show on Dec. 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m at Cassville Elementary School.  The show will highlight the unique artistic talents of Cassville’s students.

Emergency workers respond to Fancher’s Mill crash

Emergency workers responded to a crash on Fancher’s Mill Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sat., Nov 15. Sparta-White County Rescue Squad was on the scene to complete an extrication. Also on scene was Cassville Volunteer Fire Department and White County Emergency Medical Services.

A coach makes a difference

Schools to undergo drastic E-rate cuts
