After Thanksgiving Hike at Fall Creek Falls- Turkey Pen Spin

At 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, work off that turkey dinner with the Fall Creek Falls After Thanksgiving Hike Turkey Pen Spin.  Meet Ranger Brent at the Camper’s Check-In Station for hike to Fall Creek Falls via the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail.  This hike will be a moderate, 2.5-mile round trip walk that should last approximately 1.5-2 hours.  Hikers are encouraged to bring water and a camera.  For more information, contact Ranger Matt Brown at matthew.brown@tn.gov or Ranger Brent Measles at brent.measles@tn.gov .

 


Herel speaks at Sparta Woman’s Club

Cherry Creek breakfast

Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Department will have an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast, 6-10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the fire hall, 124 Montgomery Rd. Menu includes country ham, city ham, sausage, bacon, hash browns, milk gravy, red-eye gravy, biscuits, eggs cooked to order, pancakes on request, coffee, orange juice and milk. 3rd Annual Mustard Seed Ranch Barn Dance Fundraiser this Saturday

From 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, Mustard Seed Ranch will be holding their 3rd Annual Barn Dance Fundraiser.  Mustard Seed Ranch is a religious organization in Cookeville serving children who have been neglected, abused, or orphaned.  The event will feature old fashioned barn dancing, raffle prizes, dinner, and fireworks.  Tickets are available at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/mustard-seed-ranch-3rd-annual-barn-dance-tickets-13331487839.

TTU Honors Program hosts forum on Ebola

Tennessee Tech University Honors Program will host a panel discussion with health care professionals about Ebola. The forum, “Ebola: Cultural and Medical Perspectives,” begins at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 10, in the auditorium of Robert and Gloria Bell Hall, 10 W. 7th St. Speakers will include Dr. Mark Pierce, infectious diseases specialist at Cookeville Regional Medical Center; Gail Stearman, a registered nurse who has served with the United Nation’s World Health Organization in Africa; and Melissa Geist, TTU nursing professor and expert on emergency room procedures. The event is free and open to the public.
