TTU to host seminar about social media marketing March 24

Have you wanted to add social media to your business marketing plan but didn’t know where to start? A free seminar that will be presented by Tennessee Small Business Development Center at TTU. “Social Media Marketing – The Smart Way” is the title of the seminar being presented 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2015, on Tennessee Tech’s campus at Johnson Hall, room 401, at 1105 N. Peachtree Ave., Cookeville, inside the TTU College of Business. Although admission is free, registration is required and can be done by visiting the web site at www.tsbdc.org/ttu or calling the TSBDC office at TTU at (931) 372-3648.

 


TDOT construction-Van Buren County

March 12-18, 2015

VAN BUREN COUNTY, SR-111 grading, drainage, and paving from south of Manus Road to south of SR-285 near Double Bridge Road: Work continues on this project. Utilities are currently being installed. Grading and blasting operations continue and the contractor is hauling borrow material within the construction zone. Motorists should expect delays. Flaggers will be present during progression of work. Motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles within the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 MPH and is being enforced. Estimated project completion date is November 2015. [Jones Bros., Inc. /CP&JP/CNM266]

WHITE COUNTY, SR-111 (Spencer Hwy.) repair of bridge over Calfkiller River (LM 6.37) in Sparta: Work on this project continues. The contractor may have short term lane closures to perform various operations on an as-needed basis. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as necessary. Project completion date is June 2015. WHITE COUNTY, SR-111 resurfacing from north of SR-135 (LM 13.52) to north of SR-136 (LM 17.43): The contractor may have short term lane closures to perform various operations on an as-needed basis. PUTNAM and WHITE COUNTIES, resurfacing of SR-135 from Falling Water River Bridge (LM 0.08) to south of Winston Dr. (LM 7.74); resurfacing of SR-136 from U.S. 70 (SR-26/LM 11.43) to the bridge over SR-111 (LM 19.85); resurfacing of SR-135 from SR-136 (LM 5.81) to the Falling Water River Bridge (LM 19.85): Work on this project continues. The contractor may have short lane closures to perform various operations on an as needed basis. Flaggers will be on site to help with traffic control. Estimated project completion is March 2015. Eagles fall to Loretto at state

The Van Buren County Eagles had their season come to and end with a 68-52 loss to Loretto in the TSSAA state tournament.

Caden Mills (20) and Drew Roberts (16) combined for 36 points in the loss.

The Eagles finished the season at 19-16.


School Board Meeting

Repairs being made to E-911 tower

The Jasper 911 tower had been damaged during the recent ice storms, and today the repairs are being made to the damaged antenna. If you look closely, you can see a man climbing the tower to reach the antenna at the top.


District Attorney makes statement on investigation of deceased woman

District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway has spoken with The Expositor this morning, concerning an incident that occurred yesterday morning in White County that has left one woman deceased. According to Dunaway, the incident is still under investigation, and no determination has been made yet as to whether a crime has been committed.  No charges have been filed at this time. The DA’s office is unable to release any further information at this time.
