Fruit and vegetable farmers offered reimbursement

Tennessee farmers who grow fruits or vegetables and have received Good Agriculture Practices certification are eligible to receive reimbursement for costs related to certification for field or packing house audits. Reimbursements are limited to 50 percent of an individual’s certification costs up to a maximum of $1,500. Expenses related to the certification must be incurred between Jan. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2015. Applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted. New options offered with 2015 Agricultural Enhancement Program

Tennessee Department of Agriculture has set June 1-7 as the application period for the 2015 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program. Producers fulfill requirements to defray the costs of strategic investments in their operation. Farmers can qualify for up to 50 percent cost share, with a maximum reimbursement of up to $15,000, depending on the project. Producers may apply online or submit an application by mail, which must be postmarked June 1 through June 7. Tuesday’s WCHS spring sports results

Several WCHS teams were in action on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

The WCHS baseball team was defeated 6-2 by Cookeville, which completed the District 6AAA series sweep by the Cavaliers.

The Lady Cavalier softball team defeated the Warriorettes 9-0 in Cookeville.

The WCHS soccer team got their first win of the season when they defeated Rhea County 4-2 on the road.

On Monday, the WCHS tennis team split with Coffee County.
