10 BUI arrests recorded during TWRA’s Operation Dry Water

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency participated in the seventh annual Operation Dry Water weekend, which has been held the weekend prior to the July 4 holiday since its inception.

Reports from the TWRA’s four regions resulted in 10 boating under the influence arrests across the state. TWRA boating officers checked more than 2,800 vessels, issued 141 citations, 116 warnings, made four other arrests, and assisted 110 boaters. The number of boaters assisted was an increase from 36 in 2014.

The number of BUI arrests is an increase from eight persons arrested last year over Operation Dry Water Weekend and the same number as in 2013.


Cookeville husband and wife charged by TBI for theft

Special Agents from Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a Cookeville couple accused of theft in connection to a business the husband helped lead.

On Aug. 14, 2014, at the request of 13th District Attorney General Randall York, TBI Special Agents began investigating allegations of theft and equipment from Tennessee Master Restoration, in Cookeville. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that led to Darrell Partin, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, and his wife, Chanda, as the individuals responsible for the crime.

On Monday, July 6, 2015, Putnam County Grand Jury returned indictments for the couple, charging Darrell, 42, with one count of theft … CONTINUED


Little League All Star season ends

Sparta’s 7/8 year old All Star team was defeated 12-8 Tuesday night by Smith County.  That ended the run of both the Sparta Little League All Stars during tournament time.

Sparta will begin hosting the 15u Babe Ruth Tournament Thursday.  The Sparta team will play Livingston at 8 p.m. that night.

Warrior football gets back to work

The TSSAA dead period ended this weekend and the Warrior football team has wasted no time in getting back to work.  They have had 7-on-7 passing competitions on Monday and Tuesday and have two more days of work scheduled for later this week.

White County Public Library hosted a visit for White County youth with News Channel 5 Meteorologist Lelan Statom at First United Methodist Church. Statom read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and answered questions the children had about weather.

Fees for birth, death certificates increased July 1

Tennessee Department of Health’s Office of Vital Records has increased fees charged for providing birth and death certificates. Effective July 1, 2015, each type of certificate will cost $15 per copy for both first and additional copies. Birth and death certificates may be obtained by visiting a county health department in Tennessee, in person at the TDH Office of Vital Records at 710 James Robertson Parkway in Nashville, online at http://tn.gov/health/article/vr-certificate or by mail. Brenda Dale Wair Williams

Brenda Dale Wair Williams, 71, passed away July 6, 2015, at St. Thomas Rutherford, in Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Wiliams was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Nashville, the daughter of Clyde William Wair Sr. and Fannie Louise Taylor Wair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lattie H. Stewart; sons, Lattie Stewart II, Charles Stewart; brothers, Clyde William Wair Jr., Virgil Wair; and sister, Patricia Ann Wair Moseley.

Survivors include husband, Paul B. Williams; daughter-in- law, Shelia Stewart; brothers, James E. Wair Sr. and wife Darlene, of Lebanon, Wesley Eugene Wair, of Sparta; sisters, Linda Goff, of Murfreesboro, Peggy Curtiss and husband Charles, of Sparta; grandchildren, Christina … CONTINUED
