Fox sets new WCHS cross country record

Caleb Fox, a senior at WCHS, set a new school record today in the Voyles Classic in Smyrna.

Fox’s time of 17:44.83 in the 3.1 mile race is the new record for WCHS runners.

Arrie Isabel Scott Clouse

Arrie Isabel Scott Clouse, 91, of Sparta passed Aug. 28, 2015, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in White County, to Ras Scott and Addie Lou Stone Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mizell Jack Clouse; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her sister, Laura Tate, of Sparta, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m., Aug. 30, 2015, at Robinson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive 1-2:30 p.m., Aug. 30, at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Earl Alverson will officiate.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Five plays later, the Warriors are back on the board.  A19-yard touchdown run by Rowan and Cantrell’s extra point  puts the Warriors up 27-13 with 44 seconds left in the half.

On the second offensive play of the game, Pierce Whited connected with Trey  Brewington for 21-yard  touchdown pass.  Andrew Cantrell’s kick was good.   Warriors lead  7-0 with 10:06 still to play in the first quarter.


Hylton deceased after being struck by a motor vehicle

Paula J. Hylton, age 57, has passed away after being struck by a Chevy Blazer while walking along Old Union Road yesterday evening. Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Jimmy Jones states that Hylton and her companion were walking on the wrong side of the roadway when the vehicle struck the couple from behind. The driver reportedly told troopers he had been blinded by the setting sun and did not see the pedestrians. Trooper Cody Roberts in the investigating officer. Sgt. Jones states that the law requires pedestrians to walk facing oncoming traffic, and to wear reflective clothing. The investigation is ongoing.

Tristin finds his great-grandfather’s name at the Veterans Park

Tristin recently visited the Sparta Rotary Club Veterans Park and found his great-grandfather Carl Bain’s name on the wall.
