#TVAfun photo contest starts April 1

Starting April 1 is the unofficial start of the warm weather fun season, and the Tennessee Valley offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, from camping, hiking and water skiing to whitewater rafting, birdwatching and mountain biking. And what better way to remember those great moments than with a great photo or short video?

Tennessee Valley Authority is launching #TVAfun, a seven-month-long social media contest to encourage everyone to take advantage of our many lakes and recreations areas and then share the fun by posting their favorite photos and short videos.

Emergency responders enjoy free lunch at Caribbean Cafe

Caribbean Cafe is hosting a free lunch today for emergency responders, to show appreciation for their commitment and sacrifices for the community. Responders are starting to arrive to enjoy their meal.

Automotive Swap Meet slated for April 9

1st Tennessee Region VCCA 2016 Automotive Swap Meet has been scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 9 at Northfield Elementary School, in the parking lot. There will be a craft fair and yard sale.

Car corral is $15, and 10X20 spaces are $15.

Cumberland Beef Day welcomes farmers

UT Extension held their Cumberland Beef Day at the White County Agricultural Complex on March 31, with a trade show, presentations and lunch for farmers to enjoy.

Wenda’s Warriors fish fry

Wenda’s Warriors will be hosting a Relay For Life fish fry, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 278 Oakwood St. You have the choice of either a fish plate or a fish sandwich. Luminarias are also available. Relay For Life is 5-10 p.m., Saturday, May 13, on Liberty Square, in downtown Sparta. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
