Save the date – Crossville Oktoberfest set for Oct. 20-21

Preparations are well underway for the 27th Annual Crossville Oktoberfest. This year’s fun-filled festival takes place Oct. 20 and 21, at the Knights of Columbus grounds, at 2892 Highway 70 East, three miles from downtown Crossville.

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 8152, Crossville Oktoberfest features authentic German-style cuisine, beer, and music. It takes place rain or shine, with all activity under cover. The event kicks off with the ceremonial tapping of the keg at 11:30 a.m., Friday.

Water Quality Grant proposals

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture  is now accepting grant proposals for projects that will help improve water quality and reduce or eliminate non-point source pollution.

“Creating and maintaining healthy waterways by reducing pollution is critical to the success of Tennessee,” Agriculture Commissioner Jai Templeton said. “These grants are a valuable resource for organizations looking to improve the watershed around them by implementing sound conservation practices.”

Nonpoint source pollution is soil, urban runoff, fertilizers, chemicals and other contaminants that degrade surface and groundwater quality. The Nonpoint Source Program was created in 1987 as part of the Clean Water Act and provides funding to states to stop nonpoint source … Read More

Tech men’s basketball set to appear on ESPNU vs. Jacksonville State

The Tennessee Tech men’s basketball team is scheduled to make an appearance on ESPNU during Ohio Valley Conference play during the 2017-18 season, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20.

The Golden Eagles will travel south to take on league foe Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama, on Feb. 8, with the contest set to appear on the ESPN family of networks at 8 p.m. CT.
