Dwight Edward Luna, 68, of Sparta, passed away March 22, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Luna was born Aug.28, 1949, in Smithville, to Reefus and Ressie Luna.

A memorial service was 1 p.m., March 31, 2018, at Johnson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. John Cunningham officiated.

Wanda Gale Carr Bradley Gibson

Wanda Gale Carr Bradley Gibson, 72, of Sparta, passed away March 22, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Gibson was born Sept. 28, 1945, in White County, to Grady Lee Carr and Dora Bell Flatt Carr.

She worked many years in health care, starting at the old White County Hospital, in 1962, and continuing with NHC Healthcare of Sparta. She later retired, in 2012, from Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ader Lendel Gibson; brother, Harold Lee Carr; and nephew, Kyle Lee Carr.

Sawilla Ann “Sue” Hickey Reams

Sawilla Ann “Sue” Hickey Reams, 76, of Sparta, passed away March 2, 2018, at Saint Thomas West Hospital, in Nashville.

Mrs. Reams was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Sparta, to Sheriff William Hickey and the first elected female sheriff in the State of Tennessee, Sheriff Annell Oliver Hickey.

For over 50 years, Mrs. Reams was a nurse. She began her career in nursing with Dr. Adams, in Woodbury. Mrs. Reams finished her career with Dr. Clarence Jones, in Cookeville. She loved people, loved helping people, and enjoyed having a great time with people. Mrs. Reams always had a funny story to share.

Sobriety roadside safety checkpoint – White County

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting sobriety roadside safety checkpoints during the week of 04-22-2018 on State Route 111 in White County.

Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. Troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol recognizes that sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting driver license roadside safety checkpoints during the week of 04-08-2018 on State Route 30 in Van Buren County.

Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found these driver license roadside safety checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing driver license laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

CAPTURED: Fugitive from TBI’s Top Most Wanted list now in custody

 A fugitive who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list earlier today is now in custody.

David Paul Vaughn of DeKalb County was captured and arrested Friday night without incident, at a hotel in Dickson.

David Vaughn was wanted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for aggravated burglary and theft over $1000 from an incident that occurred on January 9th. Vaughn is also the suspect of a vehicle theft in Indiana. In addition, he is wanted in connection with a home invasion and an assault on a law enforcement officer from Boone County, … Read More

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has a new addition to the state’s Top 10 Most Wanted list, David Paul Vaughn, of DeKalb County.

David Vaughn is wanted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000 from an incident that occurred, on Jan. 9. Vaughn is also the suspect of a vehicle theft, in Indiana. A joint investigation into drug trafficking by multiple local, state and federal agencies has resulted in the arrest Wednesday of three individuals in Putnam County.
