Warriors lead at the half

The Warriors use a big second quarter to take the lead and lead the King’s Academy Lions 46-36 at the half. The Warriors were led by Austin Burchett in the first half. He finished with 15 points. Grant Slatten also finished in double figures with 12.

Warriorettes win big

The Warriorettes take down the Sequatchie County Lady Indians by a final score of 64-31. The Warriorettes were led by Gracie Dodgen who finished with 15 points. Mia Murray and Alaina Stiles also finished in double digits with 14 and 10.

Peggy Joyce Brady Higgins

Peggy Joyce Brady Higgins, 84, of McMinnville, passed away Dec. 17, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Higgins was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Dayton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Luther and Daisy Nixon.

She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Daisy Nixon; husband of 66 years, Donald Dewey Higgins; granddaughter, Robin Fields Williams; grandson, Mickey Jason Sewell; sister, Laverne Brady Gentry; and brother Charles Brady.

Survivors include her children Sharon (Russell) Ferguson, Janice (Ted) Richards, Keith Higgins; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Shelby Stinnett, Jo West; brothers, … CONTINUED


Opal Dean Jernigan Hodge

Opal Dean Jernigan Hodge, 88, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 17, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Hodge was born Sept. 23, 1930, in White County, to Alton Lewis Jernigan and Jimmie Mae Moore Jernigan.  She was a homemaker and loved traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Hodge; sisters, Jean Drummonds, Nancy Guy; and a brother, Bo Jernigan.

Survivors include her children Beverly (Lewis) Copeland, Jackie (Frances) Hodge, Carol (Michael) Wilson, Tommy (Marsha) Hodge, Connie Ann Presley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Holman
