The 2nd Annual Pistol Two Person Scramble will be Aug. 18 and Aug. 19, at the Sparta Country Club. This scramble is to raise money for the Pistol Foundation that supplies graduates from White County High School and Van Buren County High School a scholarship in honor of Tammy “Pistol” Wilhite.
Tammy “Pistol” Wilhite passed away suddenly on Nov. 29, 2016. She was the sports editor for The Expositor for 22 years before she passed. She was a beloved member of the community and had served as a coach to countless White County children in different sports leagues for many years.
The cost of the tournament is $200 per team, which includes the two days of golf, two mulligans per golfer each day, and a Calcutta dinner Saturday night.
If you are interested in competing in the tournament, please call the Sparta Country Club at (931) 738-5836 or stop by to sign up. Let them know if you would prefer the 8 a.m. tee time or the 1 p.m. tee time. Tee times on Sunday will be according to flight after Saturday’s rounds.
The Calcutta dinner will begin at 6 p.m., on Saturday, with an auction starting at 7 p.m.
The will also be a putting contest, long drive, and closest- to-the-hole prizes on all par 3s. There will be a cash winner each day for these prizes.
The field will be cut into four flights with Championship Flight paying first place $750, second place $650, and third place $550. First, second, and third flights will all pay first place in each flight $550, second place $450, and third place $350. These prizes may change depending on full field requirements.
Calcutta payouts will have 10 percent of each flight going to the foundation. The rest will be split up with first place receiving 60 percent, second place receiving 30 percent, and third place receiving 10 percent.
If you would like to sponsor a hole for the tournament, the cost will be $50 per sign. The sign can have your name, family name, or business displayed for everyone to see.
