8th grade splits with North Franklin

The White County Middle School 8th grade basketball teams split a pair of Central Tennessee Conference games with North Franklin, on Thursday, in Sparta.
The Warriorettes came from behind to win their game 27-22 to move to 2-0 on the season.
The Warriors fell to North Franklin 60-27 to fall to 1-1 on the season.
The Warriorettes jumped out to an early 7-5 lead at the end of one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, North Franklin outscored the Warriorettes 11-3 and took a 16-10 lead into the locker room.
After halftime, North Franklin outscored the Warriorettes 5-4 and took a 21-14 into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter of play, the Warriorettes came out and outscored North Franklin 13-1 to win by a final score of 27-22, securing their second win of the season.
Caydra Parker led the way for the Warriorettes with 13 points. Nia Powers chipped in 7 points. Jordan England added 4 points, and Karley Gentry rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
In the nightcap, North Franklin jumped out on the Warriors leading 21-4 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, North Franklin extended their lead, outscoring the Warriors 15-9 and led 36-13 at the half.
After halftime, North Franklin outscored the Warriors 15-8 and led 51-21 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter of play, the Gators outscored the Warriors 9-6 and won by a final score of 60-27.
Ethan Swoape led the way for the Warriors, with 8 points. Issac Butcher finished with 6 points, and Ben Hillis chipped in 5 points. Riley Smith, Tyler Gentry, Javyn Strode, and Wes Gooch finished with 2 points apiece.
The Warriors and Warriorettes will both hit the road, on Tuesday, when they travel to Coffee County for a CTC matchup. Both teams will return home, on Thursday, and host Harris Middle School to wrap up their week.
