Angelia “Angie” Renee Evans, 64, passed away Dec. 10, 2017.

Ms. Evans was born Feb. 23, 1953, in Sparta, to A.C. Cummings and Arcanna Stewart Evans.

She was well liked by everyone and could always make you laugh. She was a member of the 1971 girls’ basketball team where she was named Miss Basketball. Ms. Evans was also an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan. She worked many years at the YMCA and Wagner Electric. She was also a Junior Pro basketball coach. She was baptized into The Church of Christ, on July 12, 1966.

Ms. Evans was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Arcola Stewart, Irene Cummings; brother, Avery Evans; and sisters, Charlotte Buckner and Faye Holland.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Tracy (Mike) Evans, Fatima Evans (Richard), all of Sparta; one son, Chad (Christy) Tubbs, of Sparta; two brothers, Bruce Evans, Chris (Jackie) Miller, all of Sparta; special friend/partner, Donald King, of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Malik, of Franklin, Destiny, of Cookeville, Makendra, Dakota, Ashland, Reonna, and Ayden, all of Sparta; nieces and nephews, Carol (Glenn) Bonner, Zachary Buckner, of Cookeville, James Evans, Rachael Evans, of Smithville, Lyndsay Evans, and Adam Evans, of Michigan; numerous other nieces and nephews; cousins and friends; special cousin, Johnnie E. Johnson, of Sparta; special lifelong friend, Dorothy Cullom, of Sparta; and all of her friends and neighbors at Elmwood Apartments.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Dec. 16, 2017, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Dec. 16, at the funeral home.

Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
