Anna Geneva Lowery Gilliam

Anna Geneva Lowery Gilliam, 90, passed away Dec. 24, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Gilliam was born July 15, 1927, in the Bon Air community of White County, to John “Dad” Lowery and Effie Jones Lowery.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended West Sparta Church of Christ, where she was active in the Stepping Stones School. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. G.” by her students. She had a long work career, beginning at the age of 16 in a shirt factory and went on to include retiring from Mallory Timers as an inspector, as well as her time at Stepping Stones. Mrs. Lowery was an avid shopper
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Clark “Bill” Gilliam; infant daughter, Darlene Gilliam; brothers, Lee Lowery, J.V. Lowery, Bobby Lowery, Donald Lowery; and sister, Alena Lowery Elliott.
Survivors include her son, Denny Gilliam and wife Joan; granddaughters, Jennifer Gilliam Rodriguez (Andrew), Chelsey Curry (Dan); grandson, Chaz Gilliam; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Dec. 28, 2017, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11 a.m., Dec. 28, at the funeral home. Derrick Coble and Kenneth Broyles will officiate.
Mike Lowery, Steve Lowery, Jerry Lowery, John Lowery, Dan Curry, and Andrew Rodriguez will serve as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
