Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce collaborated with Ben Lomand Connect of Sparta to host a Business Before Hours, on Nov. 6. Businesses such as Crye-Leike, Cumberland Family Care, and many others joined Ben Lomand to network and learn about the fiber optic, high-speed internet they offer.
Chamber of Commerce President Marvin Bullock explained to the visitors about the exclusivity of the fiber optic, high-speed internet.
“I have met three people from Sysco Systems, remote workers, who now live here and have come because of this fiber optic,” said Bullock. “We are now a Gig community. Cookeville doesn’t have this yet. Nashville doesn’t have this yet. Crossville doesn’t have this yet. We have this Gig certification that is attracting these young, remote workers from all over.”
Bullock went on to explain that one of the people from Sysco had told him that his mortgage here in Tennessee is less than the property taxes he was paying in Palo Alto, California. David Vaughn, Ben Lomand Connect district operations manager, expanded on what Bullock was saying.
“We are working really hard to expand our Gig-capable network throughout our 3,200 square mile coverage area,” said Vaughn. “We are blessed with a lot of it already in place in White County and Van Buren County. We are working in all the counties that we serve to get that done.”
Vaughn thanked everyone for coming out on Election Day to hear about what Ben Lomand Connect had to offer and to enjoy breakfast that was provided.
