Bernard R. Sherman, 74, of the Cagle community, passed away July 1, 2019, at Memorial Hospital, in Chattanooga.
Mr. Sherman was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Dunlap, to I.B. Sherman and Bertha Pauline King Sherman
He was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam. He worked at Loraine Crane, in Chattanooga, and later he operated the Triangle Service station, in Cagle, for many years and worked at Camcar Textron, in Spencer, before his retirement.
Mr. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Scissom Sherman; and his son, Kirk Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda McDaniel Sherman; son, Stan (Stefanie) Sherman; grandchildren, Tanner and Lawton Sherman, Robert and Jacob Easterly, Joslyn Sherman; daughter-in-law, Katie Stocker; brothers, Bobby (Delia), Donnie (Jane) Sherman; sisters, Betty Dickerson, Joyce (Charles) Layne, Bertha (Jackie Wayne) Pickett, Inez Oakes, Donna Hankins; numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, David (Dorothy) Cribbs and family and Tony (Gina) Cribbs and family.
Funeral service will 11 a.m., July 5, 2019, in Layne Funeral Home, in Palmer, with burial in Cagle-Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Minister Jonathan Hankins and Stan Fults will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Sequatchie County Valley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., July 3, and 4-8 p.m., July 4, at the funeral home.
