The White County High School bowling team opened their season Thursday against Upperman.

Although both the Warriors and Warriorettes were defeated in the opener, Coach Wesley Martin has a positive outlook on the season that lies ahead. He took time to talk about the team.

“Although several of our top male bowlers graduated this past year,” noted Martin. “We still have a veteran presence that we will be relying heavily on this season.”

As far as the girls’ go, Martin has only one returning bowler on the squad. That is Stephanie Vaughn, a senior.

The team will play a 10-match regular season and then head into the district tournament, which will be December 14-17. The site of the district tournament will be determined by the district ranking.

In the opening match, the Warriorettes were defeated by the Lady Bees 17-10 while the Warriors suffered the 23-4 loss.

The next action for the bowling team is November 2nd at Jamestown against York Institute.

See Monday’s print edition for more details on the first match and a more in-depth preview.
