Carl Cummings Wallace: Sept. 5, 1918-Nov. 29, 2009

Carl Cummings Wallace, 91, of Sparta, passed away Nov. 29, 2009, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mr. Wallace was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Sparta, to Mal Cummings Wallace and Emma Passons Wallace.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Leta Mae Hickman Wallace.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Capshaw and husband William, of Bluffton, S.C.; three grandchildren, Christal (Robert) Gauss, of Indiana, Steve (Jennifer) Capshaw, of Massachusetts, William (Hollis) Capshaw, of Virginia; eight great-grandchildren; and niece and nephew, Joan and Blanchard Tubb, of Sparta.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Dec. 2, 2009, at Sparta First Christian Church, with burial in Old Union Cemetery. The Rev. Trevor Trahan will officiate. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m., Dec. 1, at Hunter Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until time for the service, on Dec. 2, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Christian Church.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
