Diane Talmon-Gros Riggs, 58, of Nolensville, formerly of Sparta, passed away Aug. 17, 2018.

Mrs. Riggs was born Aug. 16, 1960.

She was a member of the Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Riggs was a loving mother and cherished wife and best friend to her husband of 38 years.

Her son, Matthew Garret Riggs, preceded her in death by only eight days.

She is survived by her husband, Galen Riggs; mother, Hilde Talmon-Gros; and sister, Susan Chaffin.

A celebration of life service for Diane and her son, Matthew, will 3 p.m., Sept. 1, 2018, at Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in Nolensville.

Matthew Garett Riggs, 33, of Smyrna, passed away Aug. 9, 2018.

Mr. Riggs was born Feb. 16, 1985.

He was a member of the Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian  Church and a loving, cherished son.

He was survived by father Galen Riggs and his mother, Diane Talmon-Gros Riggs, who followed him in death only eight days later; grandparents, Hilde Talmon-Gros, Bill and Frances Riggs; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Margie Louise Chaney, 92, while at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, on Aug. 27, 2018, went peacefully to be with the Lord.

She was born Jan. 26 1926, in Sparta, to Amos Fisk and Ama Lou Leftwich Fisk.

Her life’s work was caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Mrs. Chaney loved the Lord, singing, flowers, cooking, and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Samuel (Boo Boo) Lee Chaney Jr.; daughter, Deborah Diane Lowery Hogan; grandson, Curron “Brother” Lowery; and a sister and a brother.

Lee Alan Vickers, 71, of Sparta, passed away peacefully, on Aug. 27, 2018, at Wyndridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Crossville, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer.

Mr. Vickers was born Oct. 31, 1946, to Marjorie A. Knodle Vickers and Donald N. Vickers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served honorably in Vietnam. He was a design engineer for many years with Bucyrus. He was a brother knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 14902. He was also a member of the Sparta Garden Club.

Mr. Norris was born May 27, 1932, in Collinsville, Alabama, to Lewis Norris and Ruby Johnson Norris.

Sunny Adair Davis passed away shortly after noon, on Aug. 23, 2018. Although his life on the earth was short, Baby Sunny was a blessing to his family, friends, and to the countless others who prayed for him from the moment he began his life, on Feb. 9, 2018.

Dr. Ronald Allen Cunliffe, of Sparta, passed away at his home, on Aug. 21, 2018, with his beloved wife at his side.

A man who loved to work from his heart and with his hands, Dr. Cunliffe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was born Jan. 20, 1946, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Elma Louise Cunliffe and Alfred Burton Cunliffe, and spent the formative years of his life with his large family, in Belleville, Michigan.

Mr. Palmer was born May 5, 1983, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to William Palmer and Linda Black.

He is survived by his wife, Angel Palmer; his son, Jaxon Palmer; his parents, William Palmer and Linda Black; in-laws, Teresa and Terry Bailey, Terri Bailey, Heather Bailey and Billy Young, Johnny and Carleen Smith, Brittany Smith, and Johnny Smith.

Coach Jerry “Red” Foster, 59, of Smithville, passed away Aug. 14, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Foster was born Oct. 2, 1958, to Elbert Les Foster and Frances Lorene Kelly Foster.

He served as the freshmen boys’ coach, 1983-1989, compiling a 92-22 record. He then moved to Jackson County High School as head boys’ coach, 1989-1993, compiling a 101-87 record in four seasons, before returning once again to DeKalb County High School to direct the Lady Tigers basketball program, a position he held for seven years, 1993-2000, with his teams recording a 93-85 record.

Mr. Pope was born Feb. 21, 1955, in Sparta, to Elizabeth Grissom Pope Boles and John Oscar Pope.

He was a retired carpenter.

Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Gary Pope.
