Amy Lynne Goodwin, 55, a resident of Glenview, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly, on May 1, 2018.

Amy is now reunited in peace with her beloved father, Paul Goodwin, (who had resided in Cookeville); her grandparents; uncles; and her recently deceased aunt, Carol.

After five years living in Europe with her family, she finished her high school education, in Troy, Michigan, and then attended and graduated from Central Michigan University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Amy’s 30-plus-year career as a flight attendant with American Airlines offered her multiple opportunities to travel the world. Her American Airlines co-workers were a true family to her. … Read More

Mildred Louise Gipson Richards, 89, of Nashville, passed Oct. 11, 2018, Saint Thomas West Hospital, in Nashville.

Mrs. Richards was born April 15, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, to James Allen Gipson and Sammie Hill Gipson.

She grew up in Sparta and graduated from White County High School. Mrs. Richards worked at Mallory Timers and retired after 30 years of service. She enjoyed going to work every day, spending time with the co-workers she loved so dearly. Mrs. Richards was a lifelong member of Central Church of Christ, in Sparta.

Samuel “Sammie” Oscar Frasier Jr., 62, passed away Oct. 8, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Frasier was born on March 4, 1956, in Sparta, to Sammy Oscar Frasier Sr. and Barbara Ann Frasier.

Bro. James Clinton Wright, 81, passed away Oct. 7, 2018, at his home, in Walling.

Bro. Wright was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Warren County, to Creed Wright and Alberta Peach Williamson Wright.

He was a member of New Hope The Baptist Church. Bro. Wright was ordained to preach the gospel, in April 1969, and served as pastor at New Hope Church for 33 years. He was also the pastor at several other churches in the area. Bro. Wright preached several revivals all over Tennessee. He retired from Century Electric Company after 30 years of service.

Margaret “Peg” Carter Mounts, 72, of Sparta, formerly of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed away Oct. 6, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Mounts was born Dec. 12, 1945, in Sparta, to Nathan M. Carter and Genevra Crowder Carter.

She spent most of her adult life in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area having taught in several schools in Allegheny County for 33 years.

Joe Hubert Sullivan, 81, of Sparta, passed away on Oct. 5, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sullivan was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Spencer.

He was the son of Jim Sullivan and Lyla Pack Sullivan. He was the husband of Vauda Carter Sullivan. He was a member of the O’Connor Church of Christ for 43 years, and he was the owner of Sullivan and Son Lumber Company for 36 years.

Malinda “Linda” C. Broyles, 84, of Midlothian, Virginia, passed away on June 22, 2018

Mrs. Broyles was born Feb. 23, 1934, in White County, to Frank Carter and Novella Frazier Carter.

She graduated from White County High School, in 1952, and secretarial school soon after. While her husband attended Tennessee Technological University, she worked as a secretary to support them both until Bill graduated and became employed with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Mrs. Woosley was born Feb. 12, 1948, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to Ralph Woosley, Sr. and Anna Hayes Woosley.

Creed Ledington, 87, of Englewood, Ohio, passed away Oct. 2, 2018, in Dayton, Ohio.

Mr. Ledington was born Oct. 9, 1930.

He received Christ as his Savior and was baptized in his teens. A number of years later, he rejoiced in the experience of holiness. He served the Lord Jesus faithfully and was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church.
