Louis C. Knowles, 62, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 7, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Knowles was born July 13, 1956, in Walling, to Plummer Knowles and Lauretta Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Knowles.

The family will have a memorial service for both Louis and Mary, at 3 p.m., Dec. 30, 2018, at Copeland Chapel Fellowship Hall.

Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Sue Farmer, 67, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 21, 2018, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.

Ms. Farmer was born Aug. 23, 1951.

Funeral service will be  graveside at 2 p.m., Dec. 23, 2018, at Dixie-O’Connor Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1:45 p.m., Dec. 23, at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.

David Ray Haston, 65, of Spencer, passed away Dec. 20, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of McMinnville.

Mr. Haston was born Nov. 23, 1953, in McMinnville, to Ernest Nathaniel Haston and Betty Louise Smith Haston.

He worked 25 years as a U.S. Postal Service truck driver.

Lillian Graham, 86, of the Cherry Creek community of White County, passed away Dec. 18, 2018, at NHC Healthcare Farragut, in Knox County.

Mrs. Graham was born July 20, 1932, in Sparta, to Wilburn Scott and Eula Burgess Breeding.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Graham was a longtime member of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church, and she was currently a member of Cherry Creek Baptist Church.

Peggy Joyce Brady Higgins, 84, of McMinnville, passed away Dec. 17, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Higgins was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Dayton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Luther and Daisy Nixon.

Donald C. Horton, 91, of Cookeville, passed away Dec. 15, 2018, at Signature Health Care.

Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Newport, Tennessee, he was the son of Christopher and Emma Horton.

He served in the Army 7th Infantry Division, in the Pacific, during  World War II.

Mr. Horton was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a special friend to Anna Ruth Burroughs, and friend to many others. He worked in financial institutions for 40 years and appraised real estate until his retirement. He was a graduate from the University of Tennessee, member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville, and a very avid golfer.

William David “Dave” Spainhower, 87, passed away Dec. 10, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Spainhower was born May 17, 1931, in Moravia, New York, the son of Marquis O. Spainhower and Lucy Mae Cornelius Spainhower.

He was a 1950 graduate of Camden High School, Camden, New York. Mrs. Short was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Sparta, to Ernest Edgar Goff and Mattie Mae Baker Goff.
