Rotary Tournament champions. The above team finished with a 50, which was 20-under in the annual Rotary Golf Tournament played on Saturday at the Sparta Country Club. Members of the team were (l to r): Roy Heady, Bill Franklin, Bobby Rogers and Wayne Butler. Franklin’s father, Phil Franklin, was one of the ones in whom the tournament was played in memory this year.

Tommy Sims’ birdie putt on the final hole, which was hole number four at the Sparta Country Club, put his team at 19-under for the day in the Sparta Rotary Club’s annual scramble, but that wasn’t enough for the win.

Solid season. Cameron Bruce put the finishing touches on a solid sophomore campaign by finishing tied for 39th in the Class 3A state tournament.

Strong second day. WCHS junior, Shelby Johnson, had a strong second day knocking 12 strokes off her opening round score and earning a 12th place finish in the TSSAA Class 3A golf tournament.

12th in the state. Warriorette junior golfer, Shelby Johnson, finished in a tie for 12th at the state golf tournament.

For the Sparta golfers, there was a reversal of fortunes on the second day of the TSSAA state golf tournament.
After a subpar day on Tuesday, Warriorette junior, Shelby Johnson, bounced back Wednesday and turned in a great round to catapult her into12th place in the state.

District runner-up. The Warriorette golf team finished runner-up in the 6AAA tournament Thursday at Riverwatch. Shelby Johnson (right) finished third overall with an 80. Riverwatch hosting 6AAA District and Region 3AAA Tournaments. The golfers of District 6AAA will converge on Riverwatch Golf Course Thursday for the District 6AAA tournament. The Warriors and Pioneers played their regular season finales there on Monday.

The White County High School golf team played their final regular season match Monday at Riverwatch against visiting District 6AAA foe, Warren County.
Both the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers have been at or near the top of the district this season and showed why Monday in the finale.

Even though weather continues to wreak havoc on the golf schedule, the White County High School linksters were able to get in a match, although shortened, Tuesday against Stone Memorial.
On Monday, the team traveled to Crossville to take on Cumberland County, but rain forced cancellation of that match before the players got in nine holes. The White County High School golfers played in a pair of different tournaments last week.
Both the Warriors and Warriorettes were in action Tuesday at the Keith Maxwell High School Invitational Golf Tournament at the McMinnville Country Club. On Wednesday, the Warriorettes competed at the Jim’s Carpet Services/Lady Raider Invitational at Willowbrook in Manchester.

The White County High School golf team has been in action over the past several days.
They were playing host to Warren County Tuesday at River watch in a make-up 18-hole match rescheduled from earlier in the season, but the weather halted the match again. Heavy rains set in and stopped the match after nine holes.
