The White County High School track and field team competed in a track meet at Cookeville on Thursday and performed well against Cookeville, Upperman, York and Livingston Academy.
Jordan Jellinick threw his best throw of the year winning the discus with his first throw over 100’ this year. Matt Howard followed closely behind with second place with the two netting eight and six points for the boys’ team.

The fifth edition of Markie’s Run will be held this Saturday, April 27th, at White County High School.
The race is ran in memory of White County High School’s standout cross country and track runner, Markie Voyles, whose life came to a tragic end in an automobile accident on October 25th, 2008. Voyles’ legacy lives on in the lives of so many she touched during her short time on this earth. This race, which is just one of several that bear her name, is a way to remember what Markie meant to everyone. The White County High school track and field team has competed in three meets thus far this season with the latest being at the Midweek meet hosted by Cookeville.
Teams present at that event were, in addition to WCHS and the hosts, were Upperman, York Institute, Stone Memorial, Coffee County and Warren County.
Morgan Voyles started the day off winning the 3200-meter run by more than a minute. Voyles ran a 13:01.

WCHS track and field. The track and field team will officially open their season March 23rd at Bear Tracks. Members of the team (in no particular order) are: Jimmy Wallace, Hunter McCoy, Morgan Voyles, Nikole Pryor, Peyton Leftwich, Rance McCurry, Cameron Bruce, Chris Winnett, Matt Howard, Jordan Jellinick, Andrea Richardson, Tamera Webb, Shannon Wilson and Mattie Dalton.
The White County High School track and field team is ready to get their season underway.
They have already competed in a preseason jamboree. Their first official meet will be March 25th at the Bear Tracks Meet in Mt. Juliet.

Ready to run. Morgan Voyles has committed to continue her running career at the collegiate level for Trevecca Nazarene University.
It’s pretty much been a given that Morgan Voyles would continue her running career to the collegiate level after her four years of high school.
The only question has been what college would she attend?
Voyles ended speculation last week when she committed to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.
The White County High School standout entertained offers and communicated with many colleges, but according to the senior, the decision was easy.

When the runners lined up at the start line at Percy Warner Park in Nashville for the TSSAA state cross country meet, the Warriorette runners were among the teams competing for the second straight year.

At the start. The WCHS runners get ready to take off during the MSCCA championship race held Saturday in Smyrna. The Warriorettes finished 13th as a team. Next up for the team is the Region 3AAA race, which qualifies runners for the TSSAA state meet. The region race is October 25th in Dayton.
The White County High School cross country runners traveled to Smyrna last Saturday to compete in the Midstate Cross Country Association Championships.
The Warriorettes finished 13th out of 20 teams in the meet. Only one Warrior runner competed in the race.

Giving back. Megan Holland, a WCHS freshman who runs cross country, has organized the Light in the Dark 5k race for September 28th. She will donate all proceeds to the Clean Water Fund.
Megan Holland is a freshman at White County High School and a member of the school’s cross country team.
In addition to her school studies, her training for the cross country team and her involvement with her church’s youth group, Holland has decided to undertake a new endeavor.

On your marks! The girls’ field takes off for the varsity race of the third annual Backyard Invite hosted by the WCHS cross country team. More than 400 runners descended on the Voyles’ Farm on a foggy Saturday morning for the 3.1 mile race.

The White County High School cross country team will host their lone home meet of the season this Saturday, September 15th.
Over 325 runners from several different high schools and middle schools will converge on the Voyles’ Farm in Cassville for the third edition of the Backyard Invite.
