Cecil S. Elliott

Cecil S. Elliott, 89, of Cookeville and formerly of Sparta, passed away Nov. 2, 2017, peacefully at his home.
Mr. Elliott served in the Army Air Force, 1946-1949, as a sergeant aerial photographer. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Elliott was a longtime leader and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and all the beauty of the outdoors, especially the wildlife.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alena Lowery Elliott; a son, Wesley Elliott; parents, J.C. and Mary Belle Elliott; and a sister, Maybelle Brown.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Elliott, Gail Elliott, Connie (Lynn) McWhorter, all of Cookeville; granddaughter, Klar (Jim) Sullivan, of Cookeville; great-granddaughters, Khloe Sullivan, Saylor Sullivan, both of Cookeville; and special niece, Patsy Scott, of Sparta.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Nov. 6, 2017, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in the Highland Cemetery. Robert Yockey will officiate. Full military honors will be administered by the Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m., Nov. 5, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the children request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of their father and mother.
