One man has been charged by White County Sheriff Department, another has a warrant waiting for him after his release from Putnam County Jail, and one man is still being sought for the Mar. 4 break-in of Airport Marathon.
According to Detective Ruben Hormilla with WCSD, William Carlton Barlow, 23, of Sparta, was served a warrant for his arrest, on Mar. 13, after an investigation led officers to him and two other individuals.
On Mar. 4, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Deputy Lewis Carrick responded to a call about the glass of the front door being smashed out of the Airport Marathon. Two cash register drawers were reportedly found to have been taken. Surveillance video was recovered from the scene.
Hormilla stated the Sheriff Department’s investigative team had knowledge of several similar crimes committed in nearby law enforcement jurisdictions. Agencies in White and Putnam counties were contacted to join in the investigation and several suspects were developed.
One suspect, Barlow, was already being held at White County Justice Center. After being confronted with evidence by Hormilla, Barlow reportedly gave a full confession.
A warrant was issued for Gerhard Aaron Hummelt Jr., 19, of Sparta, who is being held at Putnam County Jail. He will be arrested and taken into custody after his release.
A warrant was also issued for Justin Daniel Wilson, 28, of Algood. He is still being sought by authorities.
All three men face charges of burglary and theft for their alleged involvement in the incident.
