Charles C. Brown, 83, of Monterey, passed away April 27, 2016, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, in Murfreesboro.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Sparta, to Cecil Brown and Bertha Mabe Brown.
He had worked as an inspector with Mallory Timers, in Sparta, and Avco Corp., in Nashville. He was a member of Jere Baxter Masonic Lodge #742, a 32nd Degree member Of Al Menah Temple, of Nashville, and American Legion Post 99, of Sparta. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, serving 1953-1955, with one tour of duty in France.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Debbie Brown; two infant sisters, Martha Brown, Eva Brown; two infant brothers, Denny Brown, Benny Brown; two adult brothers, Edward Brown, Brackett Brown; stepmother, Nanny Lou Brown; and stepfather, Wiltz Knowles.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kenneth Akers, of Murfreesboro; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronnie Brown, of Nashville, Kevin and Erin Brown, of Nashville; mother of his children, Wilma Walker Brown, of Monterey; four grandchildren, Brandon (June) Akers, Ryan (Lindsay) Akers, Ashley Brown, Kayte Brown; four great-grandchildren, Riley Akers, Lawson Akers, McGuire Akers, Addy Akers; three sisters, Ena Mae Dickerson, of Crossville, Joanna Golden, of Smithville, Carolyn Norris, of Sparta; and five brothers, David Brown, of New York, James Brown, of Sparta, Ernie Brown, of Murfreesboro, Mike Brown, of Sparta, and Melvin Brown, of Sparta.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., April 30, 2016, at Goff Funeral Home, in Monterey, with burial in Highland Cemetery, in Sparta, with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., April 29, at the funeral home.
