Charles William Gwynn Sr., 90, passed away April 14, 2005.
Gwynn was born July 15, 1914, in White County to Willie Gwynn and Jodie Rutherford Gwynn Burden.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Gwynn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Franceola Fish Gwynn; one daughter, Anna Jo Verge; one son, George Henry Gwynn; and two brothers, Sidney Gwynn and George Lee Gwynn.
Survivors include one son, Charles William Gwynn Jr. and his wife Jewell, of Dalton, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Garetta and Charles Bartlett, of North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Wilma J. Gwynn, of California; two sisters-in-law, Margie Chaney and husband Sam, Elise Gwynn, all of Sparta; grandchildren, Annette King, Teresa Thomas and husband Tony, Alicia Johnson and husband Jeff, Scotty King and wife Tonja, Randall Gwynn and wife Vickey, Derrick Gwynn, Tony Officer; great-grandchildren, Justin Young, Trey King, Corey King, Erica Allen, Britany Melton, Michael Scott King, Deshon King, Jourdan King, Anna King, Eric Scott King II, Toiya Gwynn, Tia Gwynn, Peyton Leftwich, Todd Officer; great-great-grandchildren, Tristian Scott, Paris King; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were at 2 p.m., April 17, 2005, at Kynett United Methodist Church with burial in Davis Cemetery. Rev. William Powell and Rev. Kenneth Edmondson officiated.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
