City officials ready for upcoming events

The City of Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen held their bi-monthly meeting this evening. One of the items discussed by city leaders was the numerous events that are scheduled to take place this weekend around Liberty Square.

On Friday, May 19, 2017, their will be two events taking place around Liberty Square. Starting at 4:00 pm, the Sparta Green Market will officially kick off its season. The Green Market will feature numerous vendors of all varieties and is known for being a local favorite event. Also on Friday starting at 7:00 pm will be the Bluegrass on the Square event.

On Saturday, May 20, 2017, the highly anticipated Sparta Sonic Cruise-In and Sock Hop is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm around Liberty Square. Right before the Sonic Cruise-In and Sock Hop, City Officials will be having a dedication grand-opening event for the newly completed Sparta Skate Park. The Skate Park is located next to the Liberty Square Amphitheater and the event will take place at 2:00 pm.

City employees have been busy cleaning up around Liberty Square, setting up the stage, and preparing for the events.
