Clara F. Colwell, 87, of Smithville, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001, at Baptist DeKalb Hospital.
Colwell attended Brethren in Christ Church and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hessie Elkins Summers; husband, Abe Colwell; five sisters, Martha Summers. Cora Williams, Betty Calhoun, Jean Caldwell, and Lorene Redmon; and one brother, Jack Summers.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and James Dunn of Smithville, Ella Rhea and Tommy Hale of Watertown, and Sandra and Roger Kirby of McMinnville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Len and Brenda Colwell and Austin and Gracie Colwell all of Smithville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Emberton of Smithville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bro. Larry Steffee and Bro. Trent Colwell officiated.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville was in charge of arrangements.
