Community celebrates 100th birthday of Nell Marchbanks

Numerous individuals gathered throughout the afternoon to celebrate the life and birthday of Nell Marchbanks, at First National Bank of Tennessee, in Sparta, on May 2.

Community members, former co-workers, friends, and family recently gathered to celebrate a great birth milestone, the 100th birthday of Nell Marchbanks.

On May 2, 2018, First National Bank of Tennessee honored Marchbanks and her life well lived with a reception that drew people of various ages and relations.

Marchbanks served as White County’s first female county commissioner and did so for 28 years, making her one of the longest tenured county commissioners in White County. Starting with the Sparta News-Pictorial, Marchbank had a dedicated career over the years serving her community with The Expositor newspaper as well.

First National Bank of Tennessee, along with numerous community members, family and friends would like to wish her a happy 100th birthday.
