Tis the season for tasty treats, and if slaving in the kitchen is not an option, Ms. Edna’s can accommodate all holiday and special occasion baking needs.
Norma Young and Vickie Staggs, sisters who have lived their entire lives in Sparta, recently opened Ms. Edna’s Cakes and Silk Flowers just in time to help out with all the parties and special events that occur during the holiday months. The two are sisters and decided to open the business because it was something they both enjoyed.
“Let us do all your holiday baking and centerpieces” said Norma
Vickie bakes and decorates the cakes, and Norma arranges the flowers and helps with cookies and sweets.
The duo makes pies cakes, cookies, fried pies, fudge and brownies.
Edna’s specializes in weddings and make the cakes and arranges flowers. The sisters even have a selection of candles and balloons.
The two entrepreneurs said their inspiration for the store came from the Lord and Edna Moore. Young took care of Moore and assisted her in her home.
“The Lord told us to open the shop,” said Young, “and we named it after Ms. Edna because she loved to cook, and she loved flowers.”
Ms. Edna’s is located at 255 W. Bockman Way, and can be contacted at 836-2908, 256-0401 or 256-0702.
Business hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-noon, on Saturday.
