Cross Country improves times in Alabama race

The White County High School Cross Country team traveled to Oakville, Alabama, this past weekend to compete in the Jesse Owens Classic. The Warriorettes had two runners finish in the top 100 runners out of 260 runners in the Girls’ Silver Division.

Evan Welch continued her excellent season, finishing in third place in the race. Welch finished with a season-best time of 19:31. Katie Anderson was the other runner who finished in the top 100, finishing the race in 75th place with a season-best time of 22:36. Macey Tollison finished next for the Warriorettes, with a time of 24:41. Ashlee Sherrell ran the race and finished with a time of 26:37. Bethany Flatt had her season-best run and finished with a time of 35:08.

For the Warriors, Gabe Sparkman was the first Warrior to finish. He finished with a time of 19:03. Zach Smith also ran and improved his time with a finish of 23:16.

The Cross-Country team will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Dickson to compete in the MSCCA Championship that is held at Buckner City Park.
