Donald “Squeaky” Lee Howard

Donald “Squeaky” Lee Howard, 80, of Sparta, passed away on March 11, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center, in Chattanooga.

Mr. Howard was born Nov. 15, 1937, to Henry Patterson Howard and Essie Norris Howard.

He had worked for many years as a custodian at Luna and Son Tires. He enjoyed riding his scooter around town and visiting with everyone in town. Mr. Howard will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jackie Wayne Howard, Elmer Ray Howard; and sisters, Retha Pirtle and Jean Cope.

Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Howard Pitts; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sue Howard, of Sparta; sister, Barbara Neal, of Sparta; several nephews and nieces; and extended family at Luna and Son Tires.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., March 14, 2018, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Old New Hope Cemetery. Bro. James Rittenberry will officiate. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., March 13, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Fisher, Steven Howard, Mike Howard, Jerry Howard, Billy Joe Howard, and Philip Howard.

Thurman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

    Squeaky was a good friend & a good man. I’ve known him for many yrs. He could put a smile on your face jus passin by him in town. I’m surely gonna miss wheelin & dealin w him. Weither it b gatherin xmas presents, bday gifts or jus in need of a good pocket knife. R.I.P Ol Buddy… We’ll all miss u a ton. Sincerely, The McCurry Family

    I’m so sorry for the familys lost …
    Everyone knew who squeaky was and everything you heard a moped you just knew it was squeaky.. we all enjoyed eye him coming through,and the smile he had riding around on his moped.

    Squeaky Howard was a piece of my childhood and everyone I knows.
