Douglas Charles Stewart, 76, of Sparta, passed away May 31, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born May 13, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Elmer Stewart and Virginia Bull Stewart.

He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and a Mason. He enjoyed fishing and working at Carrie’s Dance Academy. He loved every dancer there.

Mr. Edmonds was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jennifer Ann.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Stewart, of Sparta; son, Douglas Stewart Jr. (Terrie), of Glade Creek; daughter, Carrie Stewart Edmonds (Nathan), of Sparta; and grandchildren, Emma Stewart, Grace Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Karlee Edmonds, Ally Edmonds.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m., June 4, 2018, at Friendship United Methodist Church, in Cookeville. Pastor Carl Stiglich will officiate. The family will welcome friends 4-7 p.m., June 4, at the church.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
