Durso retires from Spar Gas

Larry Durso has retired after 23 years of service and dedication to Spar Gas.  Durso was part of the Spar Gas Family since 1992.  He was hired by Mary Ann Catron, founder of Spar Gas.

According to the owners and co-workers, Durso worked hard for the company.  He moved to Tennessee from New York City for a better life for his family.  Durso was looking for work, and Spar Gas was needing a driver, and the rest is history.  He drove thousands of miles and hauled thousands of gallons of propane for the company.

Durso drove a propane delivery truck in all of Spar Gas’ six locations. He has worked in Sparta, Spencer, Pikeville, and surrounding counties for the last 15 years.  Durso has the gift of gab and loves to talk to all his customers, not just to sell gas but to make friends with his customers.

In his spare time, he loves to cook. Spar Gas employees said they will miss hearing what’s on the menu for him every night. These things will be missed by all who know Durso.

Spar Gas wishes Durso the best in his next chapter in life.

According to Sabrina Tolbert, daughter of Mary Ann Catron, “As Momma would say, carry on.’”
