Earl Eugene Madewell

Earl Eugene Madewell, 80, a Spencer resident and a Van Buren County native, passed from this life April 13, 2019, at his residence, after an extended illness.

Mr. Madewell was born Feb. 14, 1939, to Elbert Madewell and Audrey Gladys Simmons Madewell.

He attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors.

He graduated from Van Buren County High School in the Class of 1957. He worked in sales, home repair, and remodeling for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maxine Madewell Barks Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Goode Madewell, of Spencer; son, Nathan Eugene (Nicole) Madewell, of Spencer; daughter, Heather (Brent) Cleland, of Brentwood; brother, Elbert Ray Madewell, of Spencer; grandchildren, Peter and Isaac Cleland, Lily and Adeline Madewell; and many extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., April 16, 2019, at Layne Funeral Home, in Spencer, with burial in Spencer Town Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Clark will officiate.

Layne Funeral Home, in Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
