Ed Higdon, 79, passed from this life, on June 12, 2018, with his family at his bedside.
Mr. Higdon was born April 14, 1939, in Marion County, Tennessee. Mr. Higdon was a registered nurse and a retired U. S. Navy HM1 (Hospital Corpsman 1st Class). He was a member of Bellview Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Higdon and Versie Green Higdon; brother, Willie Higdon; and sisters, Daris Higdon, Beulah Mae Neal, Violet Brown, and Josephine Osterhaute.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Arlene Thacker Higdon, of Spencer; son, Jeff (Mona) Worrix, of Bon Air; daughter, Lajeana (Bron) Howard, of Spencer; brother, Sonnie Higdon; sisters, Tawanda Herrin, Genevievie “Babe” (George) Henry; grandchildren, Justin, Sierra, Preston, Steven; and numerous nephews and extended family.
Funeral service will be 10:30 p.m., June 14, 2018, at Layne Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Spencer Town Cemetery. Bro. Bruce Nunley will officiate. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m., June 13, 2018, and 9:30-10:30 a.m., June 14, at the funeral home.
