Eddie Royce Cantrell, 86, a Warren County resident and DeKalb County native, passed away July 9, 2019, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Cantrell was born Jan. 11, 1933, the son of James Nathan Cantrell and Maggie Givens Cantrell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Tennessee Army National Guard and a retired officer of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

He was married Feb. 14, 2004, to Glenda Stubblefield Cantrell who survives.

Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ruth Raymond Cantrell.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Debbie Cantrell Howard and husband Sammy, of Morrison; stepchildren and spouses, Rick and Faye Stacey, of Winchester, Dondi and Geno Volz, of McKinney, Texas, Beachel Sean and Tamara Curtis, of Crestview, Florida, Joseph Shane and Debbie Curtis, of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; grandchildren, Mimi Howard Turner, Andrea Howard, and several other grandchildren; and two sisters, Emmalyne France, of Smithville, and Melinda Young, of Crossville.

Graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m., July 14, 2019, at Hebron Cemetery. Rickey Magness will officiate. Military grave rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., July 13, and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., July 14, at High Funeral Home, in McMinnville.

High Funeral Home, in McMinnville, is in charge of arrangements.
