Farmer’s Market is open

The Sparta/White County Farmer’s Market is now open for business at Metcalf Park, in Sparta. The market will be open each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout the growing season. Most vendors are in place early in the morning and stay until their produce is sold out, so buyers need to get there early for best selections. The market is typically open from 6 a.m-noon. Metcalf Park is located downtown off South Church Street, just behind the UT Extension office.

Most fruit and vegetable producers report a later than usual crop harvest for this spring, but are now ready to come to market. All local gardeners are encouraged to participate in the market. There is no fee for sellers. This market is a joint effort of the City of Sparta, White County, UT Extension, and local producers. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor at the market should contact Sparta City Hall at (931) 836-3248.

For further information, you may also contact the UT Extension Office at (931)  836-3348.
